Come talk to Denver DOG at Kennedy dog park!
April 4, 2011 in News

Upgrades to dog parks, funded by a bond issue passed by Denver voters in 2008, will begin this year. Improvements are slated to begin late this summer. Kennedy dog park is scheduled to be upgraded first because the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has ordered it fenced by October 2011. The dog park property is next to BLM land. The dog park will be separated into large- and small-dog area with separate entrances. A parking lot will be added close the gates as well as trees planted and the surface leveled and graded. Fuller dog park’s improvements are expected to begin at the same time as Kennedy’s. It, too, will be divided into large- and small-dog areas with their own entrance gates. Shade structures, trees and benches are expected to be added. The surface will be graded, holes filled and a clay mixture surface material applied (similar to Josephine dog park’s). Berkeley Park’s upgrades will be contingent on improvements to Berkeley Lake and the addition of a wetlands area near the dog park. The dog park will be moved slightly to the south but its size will remain the same. It will have large- and small-dog areas and will get additional trees and new surface material (an “infield” clay mixture).
Denver DOG will email you with construction schedule information as we get it and will post information on the dog parks’ bulletin boards. If you know another a dog park user, please encourage them to sign up on our email list, so they can get current dog-related information.
