Police Sponsored Press Conference for Leash Laws

April 4, 2011 in News

Leash Law Violations

On Tuesday, March 22, 2011, the Denver Police Department, Denver Animal Care and Control, and Denver Parks and Recreation are teaming up to inform the community about growing concerns around leash law violations in the City and County of Denver.  With the warmer weather, more people are enjoying the parks with their animals. While the majority of people are obeying the laws, some are not. We will discuss the laws and penalties, as well as the liabilities you face if you violate the leash law. We will also talk about the neighborhood dog parks locations. Our goal is for all citizens and four-legged friends to be able to enjoy our great city parks.

The speakers at press conference will be District-6 Commander Tony Lopez, Sgt. Aaron McSpadden from Animal Care and Control, and Carol Walker, Executive Director Rocky Mountain Insurance Information Association/CAAT. The press conference will be held at 10:30 am, at Cheesman Park Pavilion, which is located at 1177 Race St .
As the weather gets warmer, multiple agencies will be cracking down on off-leash dogs.  Here is a reminder of what the leash laws are.
